چکیده

Abstract Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) can cause substantial economic yield losses to many agronomic crops in the United States. A regional-scale survey was completed across 20 counties determine PPNs prevalence Michigan corn and how factors such as soil type, tillage, irrigation, cropping systems influence their distribution. Ten different major genera of were identified fields: Longidorus (needle), Helicotylenchus (spiral), Pratylenchus (lesion), Meloidogyne (root-knot), Heterodera (cyst), Hoplolaimus (lance), Tylenchorhynchus or Merlinius (stunt), Paratylenchus (pin), Criconemella (ring), Xiphinema (dagger). No significant differences among categories tillage for lesion, stunt, needle nematode detected. Lesion most prevalent muck soil, while stunt significantly affected by type. Needle least abundant irrigated soils contrast, higher non-irrigated soils. Spiral common all systems. These findings will be helpful planning future studies developing evaluating management strategies.

Nematodes in Michigan. I. Distribution of Heterodera glycines and Other Plant-parasitic Nematodes in Soybean.

In 1992, a detection survey for Heterodera glycines (soybean cyst nematode) was conducted in 16 counties in Michigan. The nematode was detected in 12 counties, with absolute frequencies ranging from 6 to 100%. A total of 149 samples was collected, and 53% were infested with H. glycines. Eighty-four growers participated in the survey, and 38 had samples collected from more than one field. Of the...

Population Trends and Vertical Distribution of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes Associated with Vitis labrusca L. in Michigan.

Nematode population trends and vertical distribution were monitored in a southwest Michigan vineyard (Vitis labrusca cv. Concord) from 1976 through 1983. Shallow (20 cm) and deep (90 cm) applications of 1,3-dichloropropene applied at 281 (shallow) plus 658 or 1,122 (deep) liters/ ha provided excellent control of Xiphinema americanum, Criconemella xenoplax, and Meloidogyne hapla. Populations of ...

Plant-parasitic Nematodes in Loess Toposequences Planted with Corn.

Populations of plant-parasitic nematodes in an Iowa cornfield were studied along north- and west-facing toposequences. Samples were collected monthly during the growing season. The greatest biomass for Xiphinema americanum occurred at the footslope on the north face. Paratylenchus microdorus had its greatest biomass at the summit position, generally more in the west- than in the north-facing sl...

Interaction of three plant-parasitic nematodes on corn and soybean.

Interaction of Belonolaimus longicaudatus, Meloidogyne incognita, and Pratylenchus brachyurus on corn and B. longicaudatus, M. incognita, and Heterodera glycines on soybean was investigated in micropiots during two seasons for corn and one season for soybean. Changes in population densities and effects on plant growth of each nematode on corn or soybean alone and in mixed culture were compared....

Distribution of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes Associated with Tea in Nigeria

Several species of plant parasitic nematodes have been encountered in tea soils in different tea-growing areas of the world. Roots and soil were sampled for the presence of plant-parasitic nematodes from tea plantations in Kusuku, the only major tea growing location in Nigeria. Six genera and species of plant-parasitic nematodes were recovered from the rhizosphere soil. Meloidogyne spp., Pratyl...
